DISCREETE CHARM OF THE TRANSYLVANIAN ARISTOCRACY – THE BÁNFFY FAMILY

Countess Katalin Bánffy grew up in Bonchida near Cluj-Napoca (in the Versailles of Transylvania) and in Budapest. Since 1947 she has been living in Marocco, she got there as an American soldier’s wife. Her daughters: Nicolette and Elisabeth moved to New York and Paris. Her son died. The children inherited certain features of the grandfather, one is painting, the other is interior designer, the third is diplomat and writer.

Katalin did not teach her children Hungarian. What is their opinion about this? The film can tell.

So that the children can read it the daughter of Miklós Bánffy translated into English her father’s main piece, the Transylvanian trilogy (Transylvanian story I-III. – You got numbered... – There is something missing... – You are torn to pieces...).

Since then there are almost one dozen of other translations of the successful book. The English translation got attention in Great Britain and they would like to make a movie series of it.
